The Department of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering(AEIE) started its journey in the year 2010 and the first batch of students graduated in the year 2014. Admissions for the students having a valid rank of WBJEE/JEE MAIN are done through the Institutional Admission Committee following the guidance of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (erstwhile West Bengal University of Technology).The present intake of the Department is 54. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty members.

The Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering curriculum includes courses on the design and development of various analog and digital electronic devices used for measurement, monitoring, recording and control of several parameters such as flow, pressure, temperature, moisture, level, etc. and the calibration of such instruments. The students admitted here learn to program microprocessors and microcontrollers, for different applications and implementation of communication networks composed of sensors, actuators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS). Since instrumentation engineering is closely related to control engineering, courses on signal processing, control theory and intelligent control such as fuzzy control and neural networks are also included. The curriculum also encompasses various specialized fields such as biomedical & analytical instrumentation, electrical & electronic measurement etc.

The scope of this discipline is vast, and is fast growing particularly due to the various emerging automation excellence of the present world. Growth is also related to the development of more accurate as well as robust sensors with much higher precision than what we could have even imagined a generation ago.The Department of AEIE has a strong role to play towards research and development. The faculties of this department are very active in research. Some of the research areas of the faculties include Internet of things (IoT), Robotics and Mechatronics Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine learning (ML), Soft Computing, Process Plant Automation, Real Time Control Systems Design, Controller design for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Biomedical signal processing etc.

Apart from academic activities, the department also encourages different extracurricular activities among the students such as different quizes, seminars, student workshops so as to upgrade the students with recent advances in the domain of science, technology, sports, current events etc. Every year the students of our department actively take part in designing departmental Wall Magazine "INSTRUMENTAL" & photography club "INSTRUGRAM" to inculcate their passion and desire towards creative thoughts.

A Science and Technology Club is being set up on departmental basis so as to encourage students for more hands on work like technical projects and help them to prosper their hidden talents in their respective fields. Moreover the faculty members remain in constant touch with the students so that they get a healthy atmosphere and guide them to participate in different inter-college events and competitions in order to build their personality and skill which is essential for their future prospect.

The Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive education in software and core engineering courses like industrial, biomedical & analytical instrumentation, process control, sensors & transducers, electrical & electronic measurement etc. to balance the breadth and depth of instruction to develop effective engineers. The department offers courses so that students can be flexible in their course choices and progress efficiently.
