About
Computer Science (CS) Department
RCC Institute of Technology (RCCIT), a Society formed and managed
by the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal. The
first institute under the Society, RCC Institute of Information Technology
(RCCIIT), was established in 1999 through a collaboration between
the Regional Computer Centre (RCC), Calcutta of National Informatics
Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Communication & IT, Government
of India, and the Department of Higher Education, Government of West
Bengal. In 2005-06, the management of RCCIIT was taken over by the
Society
In 2021, the second institute, RCC Institute of Information Technology
(Non-AICTE) has been established by the Society on the surplus land
in the campus of RCCIIT. This institute presently offers two undergraduate
degree programs - Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Bachelor
of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science. Both the courses are affiliated
to MAKAUT and follow CBCS pattern. Following NEP recommendation and
UGC directive these 3-years Bachelors courses are now getting transformed
to 4-years courses with more flexibility and dimensionality.
In 2024 the BCA course requires the AICTE approval. So from 2024
RCC Institute of Information Technology offers BCA 4-years course
under Autonomy. With the establishment of the new course, there is
a clear objective to meet the increasing demand for skilled non-engineering
graduates in the IT industry. Given RCCIIT's reputation for quality
education and consistent placement outcomes, it is expected that the
course will be highly sought after. The institute remains dedicated
to provide industry-relevant education and skill training so as to
ensure that the graduates are well-prepared for rewarding careers.
Both the institutes RCCIIT and RCCIIT (Non-AICTE) foster a green
and eco-friendly environment while following a culture of traditional
academic practices, high ethical standards, and strong teacher-student
bonding. This nurturing environment encourages students to explore
their creativity and strive for excellence.
To become an institute of values and qualities for non-engineering
degree programs, that will impart knowledge and skills of the highest
quality through well-qualified faculty members with expertise in their
respective fields and deliverables aligned with industry requirements
and technological advancements which will encourage and integrate
students in a learning process through advanced laboratories, software
and equipment boosted by open communication, participative activities,
social engagement and managed by unbiased and visionary leadership.
